Stage Description

Leaving behind the monumental Toledo, this long stage enters into the Torrijos comarca, a flat landscape and agricultural zone. The road is a long traverse through the Toledan plateau, with endless straight lines and few shadows, making it mentally demanding. It's a day for introspection and meditation, enjoying the solitude of the path. Arrival in Torrijos, an important town with a rich Renaissance heritage, such as the Colegiata del Santísimo Sacramento, is a well-deserved rest after a day of great effort and perseverance.
The stage that connects the cities of Toledo and Torrijos is a 34.7 km long journey that immerses the pilgrim in the Toledan plateau. The route leaves behind historic Toledo (529 m) and ventures into an open landscape characterized by extensive fields of grain and a wide horizon. The path is mainly flat, although with some gentle undulations, and follows dirt tracks and rural roads. The lack of shade throughout much of the route makes it demanding, especially in the summer months. Along the way, small towns such as Rielves are passed through, offering points of rest. It's a day for meditation, to enjoy the vastness of the Castilian landscape, and to feel the solitude of the pilgrim. The arrival at Torrijos (505 m) marks the entrance to a town with an important historical and artistic legacy. Its Colegiata del Santísimo Sacramento, in Renaissance style, and the Palace of the Dukes of Maqueda (now Town Hall) are its main monuments.
