Stage Description
Stage through the heart of the Merindades, a region of rugged landscape and rich heritage. The 22 km run between valleys, beech and oak forests, and small villages with medieval fortress-towers. Pedrosa de Valdeporres is the capital of the Merindad de Valdeporres, with a baroque parish church and traditional stone architecture.
The stage that leads Toledo from the south is a heavy journey filled with anticipation of arriving at one of Spain's most important cities in history. The path runs through an undulating terrain, through a landscape of olive groves and fields of cultivation. As you approach Toledo, the pilgrim passes through the area of cigarrales, ancient recreation estates of Toledan nobility, which offer spectacular views of the city. Entering Toledo, crossing one of its historic bridges over the Tajo River, is a magical moment. The city, declared a World Heritage Site, is an inexhaustible treasure. Known as "The City of Three Cultures" for the coexistence of Christians, Jews and Muslims in the Middle Ages, its heritage reflects this rich history. It's essential to dedicate time to visit its Primada Cathedral, the Alcázar, San Juan de los Reyes Monastery, the synagogues of Tránsito and Santa María la Blanca, and get lost in its narrow streets of its old town.
