Greenhouses at Lagunas of Ruidera

The Salceda to Santiago de Compostela stage is the end of the journey. Each step carries a symbolic weight and an emotion that increases with each step. The path continues through forest tracks between eucalyptus, passing by O Pedrouzo, Amenal, and Lavacolla. The last topographic name, Lavacolla, holds great historical importance as it was here, at the local stream, where medieval pilgrims washed and purified themselves before entering the holy city. After Lavacolla, comes the final major effort: climbing Mount do Gozo. From its summit, a magical moment occurs: for the first time, the pilgrim sees in the distance the towers of Santiago's Cathedral. It is an immense joyful instant. From Mount do Gozo begins the descent and entry into the city. The urban stretch leads the pilgrim to the heart of the historic quarter. Crossing the Porta do Camiño, emotion becomes uncontrollable. Finally, the pilgrim arrives at the majestic Praza do Obradoiro. The view of the imposing baroque facade of the Cathedral is the end of the Way.
