Stage Description
This is the first part of the stage that joins Sarria and Portomarín. The route is a continuous rise and fall through rural Galicia at its most typical, through "corridors" shaded by oaks and beeches. The path is dotted with countless small villages. An important milestone is the milestone at kilometer 100 to Santiago. Arrival in the small village of Morgade offers a tranquil final stage in the heart of Galician countryside.
The stage between Sarria and Morgade is an immersion into the heart of rural Galicia. The profile is a continuous rocky terrain, with no great ascensions but constant ups and downs. The path runs for the most part through "corridors", ancient sunken roads flanked by stone walls. Numerous traditional villages are crossed, such as Barbadelo. One of the most anticipated moments comes near the village of Peruscallo, where a granite milestone marks the symbolic "mile 100" to Santiago, a place of celebration and obligatory photography. The arrival in the small village of Morgade, with its hostel and rural atmosphere, is the end of this short stage.
