Bourges, the historic capital of the Duchy of Berry, is one of the most monumental stops on the Lemovicensis Way. The city offers the pilgrim a treasure of architecture: Saint-Étienne Cathedral, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This Gothic temple is unique for its design without transept and its impressive collection of 12th and 13th-century stained glass. For the walker, visiting this cathedral is one of the great cultural experiences on the path in France. The old town of Bourges, with over 400 timber-framed houses, transports the traveler to the Middle Ages. Jacques Cœur's Palace, a magnificent example of civil Gothic architecture, is another of its major attractions.
