Discover Elizondo

Elizondo, the capital of the noble and verdant Baztán Valley, is the main urban and service center of the Baztan Route. This Navarran lordly village welcomes the pilgrim with a unique architecture, where its numerous palaces and blazoned houses stand out, characterized by the distinctive red stone of the area. The river Baztan runs through the town, and its bridges, such as the one in Txokoto, offer one of the most picturesque scenes on the route. For the walker, Elizondo is an ideal stopover for a longer rest, with a complete range of hostels, restaurants, and shops. It's the perfect place to taste local cuisine, like chocolate with hazelnuts or quajada. The Church of St James and the Arizkunenea Palace are points of interest. Walking through its streets is to immerse oneself in a world of traditions, legends, and deeply rooted Basque culture. In the Way of St James, Elizondo is the heart that beats in the valley, a place that combines the beauty of its heritage with the majesty of the Pirenne landscape surrounding it.
