Discover Las Médulas

Las Médulas are the result of the largest open-pit gold mine of the Roman Empire, a spectacular and unique landscape in the world, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Roman engineering, using water power, dismantled an entire mountain to find the precious metal, creating an incredible landscape of red clay spires, now covered by forests of oak and beech trees. For the pilgrim on the Winter Way, it is a breathtaking stop. Walking its trails, such as the Senda de las Valiñas, or climbing the Mirador de Orellán to take in the view, is an unforgettable experience that combines history, nature, and engineering.
