Its name is inscribed in universal history as the place where, in 1494, the Treaty of Tordesillas was signed, the agreement between Castile and Portugal that divided the world to explore. The village offers a rich monumental heritage, highlighting the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara, a jewel of Mudéjar art that was palace to kings.
