Vilagarcía de Arousa, the capital of the Ria of Arousa, is the largest and main service center that pilgrims find on the Route of Father Sarmiento. With an important commercial port and lively urban life, it offers a contrast with the more rural and maritime stages. For the walker, Vilagarcía is a functional and comfortable stop, ideal for a complete rest. Its heritage includes the Pazo de Vista Alegre and the Convent of the Augustines, and its waterfront promenade invites a pleasant walk along the sea.
