Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of Euskadi, is the great city that the pilgrim finds on the Vasco Camino del Interior after crossing the mountains through the San Adrián tunnel. Recognized as "European Green Capital", the city welcomes the walker with a green ring of parks surrounding it and exceptional quality of life. Its main jewel is its medieval quarter, known as the "Medieval Almond" for its shape, one of the best preserved in the Basque Country.
