Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

Second stage of the Malaga Mozarabic, which continues into the region of Antequera. The route of about 20 km runs along dirt tracks between farmhouses, olive groves and cereal fields, with an undulating profile characteristic of inland Andalusia. The destination is Villanueva de la Concepción, a young municipality located at the foot of the Torcal de Antequera, a spectacular natural site of karst formations declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A stage of great scenic beauty.
The stage between Almogía and Villanueva de la Concepción is a half-mountain day that ventures into the heart of the Málaga Mountains. The profile is a continuous up and down, with considerable accumulated gradient. The landscape is of great beauty, with olive groves, almond trees, and low hills. The main protagonist of the stage is the Torcal de Antequera, whose rocky formations are visible for most of the route. Arrival in Villanueva de la Concepción, a white village of recent foundation, marks the end of the stage. Its location at the foot of the Torcal makes it an ideal base to visit this natural area, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is a perfect final stage for nature lovers and geology enthusiasts. The village offers all necessary services for pilgrims.
