Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
Second stage of the Malaga Mozarabic, which continues into the region of Antequera. The route of about 20 km runs along dirt tracks between farmhouses, olive groves and cereal fields, with an undulating profile characteristic of inland Andalusia. The destination is Villanueva de la Concepción, a young municipality located at the foot of the Torcal de Antequera, a spectacular natural site of karst formations declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A stage of great scenic beauty.
After the tough ascent to O Cebreiro, this stage offers a more favorable profile, though not without difficulties. The journey begins with a gentle ride along the mountain's crest, passing by the Alto do Poio, the highest point on the Camino in Galicia. From there, a long and pronounced descent begins that puts your knees to the test. The landscape is that of authentic Galicia: green hills, chestnut and oak forests, and small stone and slate villages. It's a stage of great scenic beauty that ends in the village of Triacastela.
