The first stage of the Camino del Norte is one of the most beautiful and demanding. The path ascends to Mount Jaizkibel, offering spectacular views of the Cantabrian Sea and the Basque coast. It's a day of great scenic beauty and physical difficulty. Arrival in the beautiful city of San Sebastián, with its Concha Bay and lively old town, is an unbeatable reward. It's a stage that combines sea and mountain in a unique setting.
The first stage of the Camino del Norte is a 25-kilometer journey that starts in Irún (20m) and ascends to Mount Jaizkibel. The path follows an alpine profile, with continuous ascent exceeding 500 meters of altitude. The route traverses a spectacular landscape, with dense forests, deep valleys, and panoramic views lost in the horizon. It is a very solitary journey that requires excellent physical preparation and good planning. The wild beauty of the surroundings is the great reward for the effort. After topping the pass, it begins a long descent towards San Sebastián (10m), with its Concha Bay and lively old town. It's an epic stage that puts the pilgrim to the test but leaves an unforgettable mark due to its beauty and wild character.
