Stage Description
This is one of the hardest and most spectacular stages of the Forgotten Way. The journey involves crossing the Cantabrian Mountains with an ascent to a considerable altitude. The landscape is alpine, of breathtaking beauty. It's a stage of great solitude and physical demand, only recommended for very well-prepared pilgrims. The arrival in La Robla, a village with a mining past in the Bernesga valley, is the reward after a titanic effort.
The stage between Boñar and La Robla is one of the most demanding days on the Forgotten Way. The pilgrim faces the crossing of the Cantabrian Mountains, in a high mountain stage. The profile is marked by a long and hard ascent. The landscape is alpine, of spectacular beauty, with panoramic views of the summits and valleys. It's a very solitary stage that requires excellent physical preparation and good planning, as there are no intermediate services. The arrival at La Robla, an important industrial town in the Bernesga valley, marks the end of the stage. La Robla offers all the necessary services to recover from the great effort made.
