Stage Description
This stage marks the passage of the Valencian Community to Castile-La Mancha. The route crosses the Corredor de Almansa, a natural pass between the tableland and the east coast. The profile is a gentle but continuous ascent. The landscape is austere in beauty, with vineyards and fields of grain. Arrival in Almansa, already in the province of Albacete, is dominated by its spectacular rocky castle, one of the most beautiful in Spain.
The stage that connects La Font de la Figuera with Almansa is a journey that takes the pilgrim from the province of Valencia to Albacete. The profile is a gentle but constant ascent, which rises to the Castilian tableland. The landscape is austere in beauty, with extensive fields of grain and vineyards. Arrival at Almansa is impressive. The city is dominated by its spectacular Moorish castle, perched on a rock in the plain. It is one of Spain's most photogenic castles. In addition to the castle, Almansa has an interesting heritage, such as the Palace of the Counts of Cirat. It is a monumental stop and an excellent final stage.
