Stage Description
Stage of the Via Augusta between the province of Cadiz and Seville. The 29 km run through the low Andalusian countryside, with cereal crops, olive groves and cotton. Las Cabezas de San Juan is a Sevillian village with an agricultural tradition, historically linked to the pronunciation of General Rafael del Riego (1820) that restored the Constitution of Cadiz. Stage of flat profile with wide horizons.
The final stage of the Forgotten Way is a gentle profile walk that takes the pilgrim to Oviedo. The path follows the valley of the Caudal River, crossing the Cuencas Mineras region. It passes through Mieres, one of the best mining villages. As it approaches Oviedo, the surroundings become more urban. Arrival in Asturias' capital marks the end of the stage. Oviedo is a monumental city with a pedestrian old town of great charm. Its Cathedral of San Salvador, with its Holy Chamber (World Heritage), is the spiritual heart of the route. Here, the Forgotten Way pilgrim joins the Primitivo Way. The city offers an infinite range of attractions, such as its preromanic churches, museums, and lively cultural and gastronomic life.
