Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
Cervantine stage through La Mancha in Toledo. The 22 km link El Toboso (birthplace of the immortal Dulcinea of Don Quixote, where the House-Museum of Dulcinea and the Cervantine Library with editions of Don Quixote in dozens of languages are preserved) with La Villa de Don Fadrique. The landscape is typical of La Mancha: vineyards, cereal fields and windmills on the horizon.
The penultimate stage of the Winter Camino is a long journey that brings the pilgrim to the gates of Santiago. The path follows an undulating profile, crossing the Deza and Ulla comarcas. It passes through Silleda, a village with all services, known for its international fair. A highly recommended detour in this area is a visit to Toxa's Fervenza (waterfall), one of Galicia's highest. The key point of the stage is arriving at the valley of the Ulla River, one of Galicia's great rivers. It crosses the imposing Ponte Ulla bridge, a place of great landscape beauty. Arrival in the small local town of Ponte Ulla, at the bottom of the valley, marks the end of the stage.
