Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
Cervantes stage through La Mancha in Cuenca and Toledo. The 23 km link Las Mesas with El Toboso, one of the towns most loaded with Cervantine symbolism: the homeland of Dulcinea, where the House-Museum of Dulcinea and the Cervantine Library with editions of Don Quixote in dozens of languages are preserved. The landscape is typical of La Mancha: cereal fields, vineyards and mills.
The stage between Rodeiro and Lalín is an enjoyable journey that crosses the Deza region. The profile is undulating, a gentle rise and fall through a rural landscape of great beauty. The road runs along dirt tracks and quiet local roads in a tranquil environment. Several small villages are passed through which preserve the charm of traditional Galicia. Arrival at Lalín, the county capital, marks the end of the stage. Lalín is known as "the zero kilometer" of Galicia, due to its geographical location in the center of the community. It's a modern and dynamic village with a great range of services. But above all, it's famous for its cuisine, especially its "Cocido de Lalín", one of the most emblematic dishes of Galician cooking. It is an obligatory stop for food lovers.
