Stage Description
This stage leaves the river valley to enter the Alcarria plain in Madrid. The profile is a gentle but continuous ascent through a landscape of cereal fields and olive groves. It's a transition day that brings the pilgrim back to the Castilian tableland. Arrival at Loeches, a village with an important heritage, highlighting its Monastery of the Immaculate Conception, offers a very interesting culturally final stage.
The stage between La Poveda and Loeches is a transition day that takes the pilgrim out of the river valley to climb up onto the Alcarria plateau. The profile is a gentle but constant ascent. The landscape changes, and the riverbank forests give way to cereal fields and olive groves. The path runs on dirt tracks in an environment of great tranquility. Arrival at Loeches marks the end of the stage. This village has an important patrimony, highlighting the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception, known as "the Bernardas", and the Pantheon of the Dukes of Alba. It is a final stage with great artistic and historical interest, offering the pilgrim a well-deserved rest.
