This is a long and demanding stage that ventures into the heart of Umbrian Apennines. The route traverses a mountain landscape, with forests, hills and valleys. It's a journey to enjoy nature and the solitude of the road. The arrival at Pietralunga, a peaceful mountain town, is a well-deserved rest after a day of great effort. This stage requires good physical preparation but rewards with unforgettable landscapes and the feeling of total immersion in nature.
The Gubbio to Pietralunga stage is a long and demanding 25.6 km journey that ventures into the heart of Umbrian Apennines. The trail starts from the monumental Gubbio (522 m) and faces a mountain profile, with continuous ascent that surpasses 900 meters in altitude. The route traverses a spectacular landscape, with dense forests, deep valleys, and panoramic views lost in the horizon. It is a very solitary journey that requires excellent physical preparation and good planning. The wild beauty of the surroundings is the great reward for the effort. After topping the pass, a long descent towards Pietralunga (566 m) begins. This town, situated in a valley, offers a peaceful atmosphere and basic services for the pilgrim. It's an epic stage that puts the pilgrim to the test but leaves an unforgettable mark due to its beauty and wild character.
