Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
First cycling stage of the Camino del Norte from the border. The 47 km link Irun with Zarautz passing through San Sebastian and the spectacular scenery of the coast of Gipuzkoa. The route combines greenways (Plazaola) with coastal stretches, bordering beaches such as La Concha (Donostia) and Orio. Zarautz, famous for its beach of more than 2 km and for surfing, is a classic Basque summer destination.
Leaving behind the monumental Zamora, this stage enters into the Land of Bread. The route is a pleasant stroll through flat terrain, between fields of grain. It's a day to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. Arrival in Montamarta, a small village with an hermitage and a reservoir, is an authentic final stage.
