Stage Description

The Jaén branch of the Mozarabic Way begins with a short stage that allows you to leave the capital and delve into the most iconic landscape of the province: the Olive Tree Sea. The route starts from the imposing Cathedral of Jaén and ascends gently, offering good views of the city and its castle.
The Mozárabe Way from Jaén begins its journey at the feet of the majestic Cathedral of the Assumption, a jewel of Renaissance. This first stage is short and serves as an introduction to immersion in the province. The exit from the city is gradual, ascending gently over the slopes of Santa Catalina Hill, allowing the pilgrim to enjoy excellent panoramic views of the capital and its castle. Once past the outskirts, the path enters the landscape that will dominate much of the route through this province: a sea of olive trees stretching out to the horizon. The route follows dirt paths, known as "service roads" of the olive groves, in an environment of great tranquility. The profile is gently undulating, with constant ups and downs but no demanding slopes, ideal for a first contact with the path. The final stage ends in Torredelcampo, an important village whose economic and social development is closely linked to olive cultivation and oil production. The locality offers the pilgrim all necessary services and the opportunity to start tasting local cuisine, where virgin extra olive oil is the undisputed star.
