Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
The last and exciting stage of the Winter Camino. The journey involves the last great ascent of the Camino, a demanding climb that takes the pilgrim to the gates of Santiago. Emotion grows with each step. The final stretch is an urban walk that ventures into the historic quarter. Arrival at Praza do Obradoiro and the view of the Cathedral marks the end of the long journey, the culmination of a dream and an unforgettable experience.
The final stage of the Camino de Invierno is a short but emotionally charged day. Starting from Ponte Ulla, the route tackles its last major challenge: climbing to Outeiro Hill. It's an demanding ascent that puts the pilgrim's last strength to the test. After overcoming the hill, the route begins a gentle descent towards Santiago. As you progress, the surroundings become increasingly urban. The entrance to Santiago de Compostela is done from the south of the city. The pilgrim passes through new neighborhoods before entering the labyrinthine streets of the historic center. Each turn, each square, increases anticipation. Finally, after passing by Praterías Square, the pilgrim enters the majestic Praza do Obradoiro. The moment to stop in front of the imposing facade of the Cathedral is the culmination of all the effort, an instant of joy, relief and deep emotion.
