Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

This is one of the longest stages of the Via Lemovicensis, an authentic marathon through the purple Périgord vineyards. The route is flat but very demanding due to its distance. It's a journey to enjoy the vitivinicultural landscape and the solitude of the road. Arrival in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, a medieval bastide on the banks of the Dordoña River, is monumental compensation. This stage is one of overcoming, which strengthens both body and spirit.
The Mussidan to Sainte-Foy-la-Grande stage is one of the longest on the Lemovicensian Way, a 42 km marathon that traverses the Purple Périgord vineyards. The route starts in Mussidan (50 m) and follows a mainly flat profile with a gentle descent towards Sainte-Foy-la-Grande (20 m). The route passes through a beautiful landscape, with vineyards and views of the Dordoña River. It is an demanding walk due to its length, but it rewards with the beauty of its scenery and the monumentality of the destination. Arrival in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, a 13th-century stronghold, is a moment of great emotion. The city, with its porticoed Plaza Mayor and medieval houses, is an architectural gem. It's a stage of great effort that is rewarded with a monumental finish.
