Stage Description
This stage continues through the Palentine Mountains, on a wavy terrain of great beauty. The road approaches the Natural Park of Fuentes Carrionas and Fuente Cobre, an area of high mountain. The route passes through a landscape of forests, meadows and small traditional villages. Arrival in Cervera de Pisuerga, capital of the Palentine Mountains, is the end of the journey. This village, with its church of Santa María del Castillo and lively atmosphere, is the nerve center of the region and offers all services to the pilgrim.
The stage that connects Perazancas of Ojeda with Cervera de Pisuerga is an immersion into the heart of the Palentine Mountains. The profile remains undulating, with continuous ascents and descents that unfold through a landscape of great beauty. The route approaches the large summits of the Fuentes Carrionas and Fuente Cobre Natural Park. The path traverses oak and beech forests, as well as high mountain meadows. It passes through several small villages that preserve traditional architecture in the area. This stage is for enjoying nature in its purest form. Arrival at Cervera de Pisuerga, the capital of the comarca, marks the end of the day. This village, situated in a valley surrounded by mountains, is an important tourist center and service hub. Its old town, with Santa María del Castillo church and its blazoned houses, has great charm. It's the perfect place to rest, enjoy mountain cuisine, and prepare for the more alpine stages of the Camino.
