Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
Stage through the rural Poitou. Its 22 km or so link Poitiers with Lusignan, a medieval town linked to the legendary fairy Mélusine and to the noble house of Lusignan (which reigned in Cyprus and Jerusalem during the Crusades). The landscape is that of the Poitevin bocage, with meadows, hedgerows and mixed woodland.
The stage from Poitiers to Lusignan is a day that heads into the land of the legend of the fairy Melusine. The path sets out from Poitiers and follows a rolling profile, with a gentle ascent towards Lusignan. The route crosses a landscape of great beauty, with woods and farmland. It is a pleasant walk, which allows you to enjoy the scenery and the tranquillity of the surroundings. The arrival at Lusignan, a town with the ruins of a castle that was one of the largest in France, is a stage finish with a touch of magic and legend. It is a stage that combines gentle exercise with a rich historical experience, a perfect balance on the Via Turonensis.
