A stage of the Via Turonensis through wine-growing Saintonge. The roughly 26 km run among Cognac vineyards, traditional distilleries and small villages of Saintonge-style houses. Mirambeau is a small town in Charente-Maritime with an old quarter linked to the ancient pilgrim route.
The stage from Pons to Mirambeau is a long day that continues through the Saintonge region. The way sets out from Pons and follows a rolling profile, with a gentle climb towards Mirambeau. The route crosses a landscape of great beauty, with vineyards and farmland. It is a demanding walk because of its length, but one that rewards with the beauty of its scenery and the peace of the surroundings. Arrival in Mirambeau makes for a charming end to the stage. It is a stage that combines gentle exercise with a rich historical experience, a perfect balance on the Via Turonensis.
