This stage is an enjoyable stroll that follows the course of the Esla River. The profile is predominantly descending and flat, allowing for a relaxed walk. The riverbank landscape, with its chimneys and proximity to water, offers a refreshing contrast to the mountainous days before. It's a transition day that brings the pilgrim closer to more populated areas. Arrival in Cistierna, an important village and center of services for the region, marks the end of the stage. Its lively atmosphere and complete range of accommodations and restaurants make it a very comfortable stop.
The stage between Puente Almuhey and Cistierna is a transition day that gently follows the valley of the Esla River. The profile is very favorable, allowing for comfortable and fast walking. The landscape changes, and the high mountain gives way to a wider and more fertile valley. The path runs along much of the riverbank, through a landscape of chapels and meadows. It's an stage to enjoy the tranquility of the fluvial environment. Several small towns are passed through, making it easy to provision. Arrival in Cistierna, capital of the comarca, is the end of the stage. This village, with an important mining and railway past, is today a dynamic center of services. It offers the pilgrim everything they may need: hostels, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. It's a functional stop and a good place to rest.
