Cisterna is the main village of eastern León mountains, an important service centre and a historic crossroads. For pilgrims following routes like the Forgotten Way or the Vadiniense Way, it's a strategic stopover offering complete infrastructure. Its history is linked to the La Robla-Bilbao mineral railway, and today it's a dynamic town by the Esla River. In its surroundings there is an interesting Iron and Mining Museum of Castile and León. Cisterna, with its varied accommodation options, restaurants and shops, is the perfect place for a restorative break, to enjoy nature on the Esla River banks and plan the next stages through the eastern León mountains.
