The stage from Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro is the queen of the entry into Galicia, one of the most difficult and beautiful stages on the entire Camino de Santiago. With a distance of 28 kilometers, the stage is marked by a continuous and demanding ascent that exceeds 1,300 meters in altitude. The path starts from Villafranca del Bierzo (500 m) and begins an ascending journey that surpasses 800 meters of drop-off. The route traverses a spectacular landscape, with dense forests, deep valleys, and panoramic views that disappear into the horizon. It's a very solitary stage that requires excellent physical preparation and good planning. The wild beauty of the surroundings is the great reward for the effort.
