Stage Description
This long stage enters the heart of Minho, Portugal's greenest region. The route is a continuous up and down through a landscape of vineyards and forests. It's a day of great beauty and physical demand. Arrival in Ponte de Lima, one of Portugal's oldest and most beautiful villages, with its impressive Roman bridge, is a monumental reward. This stage puts the pilgrim to the test, but rewards with a dream destination.
The Barcelos to Ponte de Lima stage is a 33km long journey that ventures into the heart of Minho. The trail begins in Barcelos (50m) and follows a mostly descending profile, with some undulations, until the village of Ponte de Lima (10m). The route traverses a beautiful landscape, featuring vineyards and forests. It is an demanding hike due to its length, but it rewards with the beauty of its scenery and the grandeur of its destination. Arrival in Ponte de Lima, one of Portugal's oldest and most beautiful villages, is a moment of great emotion.
