Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

Classic cyclotourist stage that crosses the border between Castilla-León and Galicia through the legendary O Cebreiro pass. The 45 km include the very hard ascent from Las Herrerías to O Cebreiro (8-10% average gradient), considered one of the most demanding passes of the Camino for cyclists. After O Cebreiro the route descends to Triacastela through the mountains of Lugo, crossing pallozas and Atlantic forests.
Leaving behind modern Tres Cantos, this stage enters the Regional Park of Upper Manzanares Valley. The route is a continuous ascent through a landscape of meadows and forests, with the Sierra de Guadarrama as the backdrop. It's a day of great beauty and physical demand. Arrival in Manzanares el Real, with its impressive castle, is a monumental stage finish. This stage requires good physical preparation but rewards with spectacular landscapes.
