Leaving behind the monumental Xàtiva, this stage of the Levante Way delves into more mountainous and demanding terrain. The profile becomes wavy, with constant ascents and descents through mountains and Mediterranean forests. It's a day of great scenic beauty that requires greater physical effort. The path passes through natural scenery and offers panoramic views. Arrival in Moixent, a town with an important Iberian past, marks the end of an era that signals the definitive transition from the plain to the mountain, preparing the pilgrim for the interior peninsula.
The stage between Xàtiva and Moixent represents a significant change in the landscape and profile of the Levante Way. With a distance of 27.5 kilometers, this journey leaves fertile plains behind to venture into the mountainous interior's foothills. The path begins in Xàtiva (115m) and starts a progressive ascent, with increasingly rugged and demanding terrain. The route traverses a landscape of pine-covered sierras, offering panoramic views and a greater experience of nature. The stage's profile is a continuous up-and-down, reaching a maximum altitude of around 450 meters. It is a journey that requires good physical preparation but rewards with the beauty of its solitary landscapes. A landmark of great interest near Moixent is the ancient Iberian settlement of the Bastida de les Alcusses, an impressive archaeological site that allows insight into the lives of the region's ancient inhabitants. Arrival in Moixent (340m), a tranquil town surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, offers well-deserved rest. It marks the transition to the meseta, a challenge that prepares the pilgrim for upcoming journeys.
