Discover Sahagún

Sahagún, a village in the León region of the Camino de Campos, is a place of immense importance in the Jacobean universe. It is the endpoint of the Madrid Route, where pilgrims who set out from the capital finally join the river of walkers of the French Way. This convergence gives it a very special pilgrim atmosphere. But Sahagún is above all "the Cradle of Mudéjar Art". Its churches of San Tirso and San Lorenzo, built in brick with a unique style that combines Romanesque art with Islamic influences, are architectural jewels. The village was the seat of one of the most powerful Cluniac monasteries in Christendom, from which today remain vestiges such as the Arch of St. Benedict. For pilgrims, Sahagún is a key service center and a place to immerse oneself in unique art. Considered by many as half of the French Way, it's a perfect stop for rest and reflection, a milestone that marks the union of routes and the continuation of one single journey towards Santiago de Compostela.
