Santander, the elegant capital of Cantabria, is a urban stop of great beauty on the Camino del Norte. The city peeks out at one of the most beautiful bays in the world, offering the pilgrim a maritime and noble landscape. The Jacobean route enters the city by boat from Somo (or circumnavigates it), an unique experience that allows you to contemplate the majesty of the bay. The pilgrim can enjoy a well-deserved rest walking along its famous beaches, such as El Sardinero Beach, or the Peninsula of La Magdalena, where the spectacular Royal Palace is located. The city's center, rebuilt after a fire, is a hub of life, with a great commercial and gastronomic offer. The Botín Center, with avant-garde architecture, adds a touch of modernity to the waterfront.
