Tui is the solemn entrance gate to Galicia for pilgrims who walk along the Portuguese Way. Situated on the banks of the Miño River, just opposite the Portuguese Valença, this historic city offers a monumental welcome. Its signature is the impressive Cathedral of Saint Mary, which rises as a fortress over the city, a magnificent example of Galician Romanesque and Gothic architecture. For the pilgrim, arriving in Tui and sealing their credential in its cathedral is a symbolic moment, marking the beginning of the final stretch of just under 100 kilometers to Santiago.
