Stage of the Camino

Stage Description

A demanding cyclotourist stage that crosses the Montes de León and the Bierzo region. The 70 km include the ascent to the Foncebadón pass (1,500 m), where the Cruz de Ferro (spiritual landmark of the Camino) is located, and the descent through Molinaseca and Ponferrada (Templar castle). The end in Villafranca del Bierzo is one of the most beautiful historical-artistic sites of the Camino. This is a stage with a steep accumulated slope but spectacular scenery.
The first stage of the Madrid Way is an urban and peri-urban route that moves away from monumental Madrid. The route is a pleasant stroll through the north of the city. It's a day to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. Arrival in Tres Cantos, a modern city in a natural setting, is a charming end of stage. It's a transition day that marks the beginning of the Way.
