Stage of the Camino
Stage Description
This long stage marks the passage of the Community of Madrid to the province of Guadalajara. The route enters the heart of Alcarria, in a terrain of continuous undulations. The landscape is dominated by fields of cereal and olive groves. It's an demanding day due to the distance. Arrival at Mondéjar, a village with a rich patrimony and great wine tradition, offers a deserved rest and welcome to Alcarrian lands.
The stage that connects Olmeda de las Fuentes with Mondéjar is a long journey that takes the pilgrim from the province of Madrid to Guadalajara. The profile is a continuous rise and fall over the hills of La Alcarria. The landscape is dominated by fields of grain, sunflowers, and olive groves. It's an etapa of great solitude, ideal for introspection. The arrival in Mondéjar, already in the province of Guadalajara, marks the end of the stage. This village, of great historical importance, has a notable heritage, such as the ruins of the Convent of San Antonio. Mondéjar is also the heart of an important wine-producing region with Denomination of Origin. It's a perfect place to rest and taste the wines and gastronomy of La Alcarria.
