A Fonsagrada

In Fonsagrada, whose name derives from the "sacred spring" (Fons Sacrata), is the first Galician municipality that a pilgrim steps into on the Primitivo Way. Situated at the top of Lugo mountain, this village gives a warm welcome to walkers who have left behind Asturias. It's an important centre for services in the region, known for its substantial gastronomy, ideal for replenishing strength, with specialties such as "butelo". Its parish church and local Ethnographic Museum are points of interest. For the pilgrim, arriving at Fonsagrada is an exciting milestone: it means having overcome the hardest part of the mountain and entering rural Galicia, starting the countdown to Santiago de Compostela definitively.
