Avila, the "City of Songs and Saints", is one of the most spectacular and spiritually significant stops for pilgrims walking the Levante or Southeast Camino. Declared a World Heritage Site, its main identity sign is its imposing and complete medieval wall, which surrounds the historic center and whose parapet can be walked on, offering unforgettable views. For the walker, entering the walled city is a magical moment, a journey to the Middle Ages. Avila is also the birthplace of Saint Teresa of Jesus, one of the most important mystics in Christianity, and the city is infused with its legacy. A visit to the Cathedral of El Salvador, the first Gothic cathedral in Spain, and numerous Renaissance convents and palaces is obligatory. With an excellent network of services and a robust gastronomy, where the famous Ávila steak stands out, it's a perfect place for a rest day. It's an era that combines the strength of its walls with deep spirituality, a milestone marking the pilgrimage.
