Zubiri

Entrance to the Pyrenees Navarre on the Camino Francés. Zubiri, with its iconic Bridge of Rage over the River Arga, is the first key stop and refuge for pilgrims after Roncesvalles.

Discover Zubiri

Zubiri emerges as the first great breath for pilgrims descending from the Pyrenees after the demanding stage from Roncesvalles. This Navarran town, whose name in Basque means "town of the bridge," is marked by its iconic Bridge of Anger, a medieval Gothic construction over the Arga River. The legend says that the central pillar had healing properties for the animals surrounding it. For the walker, Zubiri is a fundamental meeting point, where the first blisters are cured and the first friendships are forged on the Camino. It offers a good provision of hostels, restaurants, and essential services, making it the perfect place to replenish strength and absorb the beauty of the Pyrenean surroundings before continuing on to Pamplona.
