The Town

Discover Puente la Reina

Puente la Reina is one of the most emblematic and symbolically charged places on the entire Camino de Santiago. In this Navarrese town, history becomes tangible at the very point where the two great medieval routes, the Camino Aragonés from Somport and the Navarrese route from Roncesvalles, merge forever into a single Camino Francés. "And from here all roads to Santiago become one." Its majestic 11th-century Romanesque bridge over the Arga River, commissioned to ease the passage of pilgrims, is a work of engineering and art that still amazes travelers. Its Rúa Mayor, lined with noble houses and churches such as the Iglesia del Crucifijo and the church of Santiago, exudes an authentic pilgrim atmosphere, making this stop an unforgettable milestone.
