This stage continues through the heart of Gipuzkoa, in a medium mountain terrain. The profile is a continuous "rocky slope", with constant ups and downs through a landscape of valleys and hills. The route runs through a rural environment of great beauty, passing by small villages and farmhouses. It's a journey to enjoy the tranquility and authenticity of Basque Country. The destination is Tolosa, one of the most important villages in the province, with a rich heritage, a famous market, and exquisite cuisine.
The journey between Hernani and Tolosa is a medium mountain stage that traverses the heart of Gipuzkoa. The profile is a continuous rise and fall, without major passes but with considerable accumulated gradient. The route runs through a beautiful landscape, across green valleys, forests, and meadows. The route passes through several small villages that conserve the charm of traditional Basque architecture. It's an stage to enjoy solitude and tranquility in the rural surroundings. The arrival at Tolosa, the ancient capital of Gipuzkoa, is the end of the stage. This important town, by the Oria River, has a lively old quarter with its medieval bridges, palaces, and Santa María church. Tolosa is famous for its weekly market, one of the most important in the Basque Country, and for its gastronomy, especially its alubias and "chuletones". It's a cultural and gastronomic stop of first order.
