Stage Description

Cycle touring stage through inland Galicia. The 60 km link Triacastela with Palas de Rei passing through Sarria (starting point for many pilgrims on foot for the minimum 100 km) and Portomarín, a village rebuilt on the Belesar reservoir after the original village was submerged. The route alternates rural paths with stretches of road, crossing villages, granaries and forests of carballeira.
This is a high mountain stage that crosses the Sierra de Guadarrama. The route is an uninterrupted ascent through a pine and rocky landscape. It's a day of great beauty and physical demand. Arrival in Cercedilla, a mountain town with a great tradition of hiking, is well-deserved rest.
