Discover Aguilar de Campoo
Aguilera de Campoo, a beautiful village on the banks of the Pisuerga River, is one of the most important and richest stops on the Forgotten Way. Known as "The Palentine Romanesque Capital", the locality and its region are an authentic outdoor museum of medieval art. The pilgrim can marvel at Santa María la Real Monastery, now a centre for studying Romanesque, San Miguel's Collegiate Church, and Santa Cecilia's hermitage. The old town, presided over by its castle on top, invites a peaceful stroll through its cobbled streets and porticoed squares. But Aguila de Campoo is also famous for being the "galley village" of Spain, birthplace of important industries in this sweet land. For the walker, it's a perfect place to rest, with all necessary services and a rich cultural and gastronomic offer.
