Stage Description
This stage links Novés with Escalona, a medieval town in the Alberche valley. The 18 km are moderately undulating, between olive groves, vineyards and pastures. Escalona preserves an impressive castle on top of a hill, the Renaissance palace of the Marquis of Villena and a medieval old town with walls and the historic Plaza Mayor.
The stage between Novés and Escalona is a pleasant stage that approaches the valley of the River Alberche. The profile is gentle, without great difficulties. The landscape is a mix of cultivated fields and oak woodlands. Arrival in Escalona is the highlight of the day. This village, of great importance during the Middle Ages, is dominated by its impressive Mudéjar castle-palace, which overlooks the River Alberche. Walking along its walls and enjoying the views is an unforgettable experience. The village also has a beautiful Plaza Mayor covered portico and a medieval bridge. It's the perfect end to the stage for history and nature lovers.
