Bilbao, the dynamic capital of Bizkaia, has consolidated as one of the most attractive starting points for the Camino del Norte. The city offers pilgrims an impressive route start, where modern architecture meets traditional Basque culture. The icon of its transformation is the Guggenheim Museum, a masterpiece by Frank Gehry that greets the walker along the Nervión River. The trail begins at the Basilica of Begoña, patroness of Bizkaia, and descends to the Old Town, known as "The Seven Streets", a maze of narrow streets filled with life and the perfect place to sample miniature Basque cuisine: pintxos.
